Project 1:
Oakgrove
Duties:
A large development consisting of a residential phase for approximately 280 units and a retail centre, including Waitrose, cafes and smaller retail units and adjacent car park. The landscape proposals have previously been prepared by another landscape consultancy, who took it through the planning application and approval. Since then however, the client has decided that they are no longer satisfied with the services of the other consultancy (they also provided general engineering and lighting information) and decided to take us on board to take the project through the detailed stage.
The two sections of the site are led by two different teams, a regular arrangement of design team meetings are required for both to provide fluent and smooth coordination of work of all consultants involved.
Work initially involved collating all info from the client and the consultants to get the background of the site's history as well as a design crit to inform the client about the potential errors, discrepancies and any information/drawings required from the design team. I also flagged up potential queries that I found needed resolving with the design team and the LPA before I can get on to detailed work.
Ongoing work requires attendance at regular design team meetings and provision of progress reports to inform the design team and the client. The design work involves working up detailed hard and soft landscape drawings in close liaison with the team, informing them about my progress and well as providing feedback and coordinating work of other disciplines, such as: highways and drainage, lighting, BREEAM, architecture. The cnstruction details and sections require particularly well coordinated liaison with the architect and the engineers.
